Managing Director UK

Simon is the Managing Director of Robert Bird Group’s London office.  Originally from New Zealand, Simon has worked in London since 2002, and joined Robert Bird Group in 2009. While at Robert Bird Group he has been responsible for leading the design and delivery of projects including, The Broadway (£350m mixed use development), One The Elephant (37 storey residential tower), Vauxhall Sky Gardens (36 storey mixed use tower), Elephant Park phases MP1 and MP2 (700 apartment development), Wandsworth Riverside Quarter (multi phase residential development), Caprice Gold Hotel (1200 bedroom hotel in Istanbul) and the Nova Building in Victoria (14 storey prime residential).

In addition to his MD responsibilities, Simon remains involved in projects as Project Director or Project Principal, as well as playing an active role in supporting and technically reviewing projects that align to his strengths: –  Tower design, Residential Sector, Mixed use sector.  His current projects include Spire London (67 Storey residential tower), St Johns Wood Square (£600m super prime residential).

Simon has a passion for Design Leadership, and using these skills to support teams in identifying and bringing Value to projects.  Now that the internet will “design you a beam”, the engineer’s role is to deliver Value through finding innovative engineering solutions that enable the architecture and product, by holistically considering the challenges of achieving an integrated design that efficiently accommodates the demands of gravity, wind and construction.
