Airport


Dubai International Airport

Robert Bird Group assisted Al Naboodah Laing O’Rourke during the bid process for Dubai International Airport with a wide range of value engineering solutions to fast track the construction schedule and meet construction budgets. Some of these value engineering solutions included the redesign of apron, departures and arrivals levels of the concourse building in addition to the floor plates and roof of the car park. More




Terminal Five - Heathrow Airport

Home to 90 individual airlines, Heathrow is regarded as the World’s busiest Airport. In order to facilitate the increasing number of passengers, new infrastructure had to be created. The new T5 expansion will include a new terminal building and one new satellite building. Robert Bird Group were called upon to provide temporary works engineering, design challenge to the main terminal building and value management studies particularly for the use of precast concrete, post tensioned concrete, below ground works and retention systems. Centrelink Headquarters

Centrelink Headquarters is an AUD $120 million commercial development of two six story high annexes which are linked by an internal atrium space. It is unique in its design as conventional formwork was almost completely eliminated from the project and the entire above-ground structure was completed in just over six months. More




Magistrates Courts

The AUD $135.5 million Brisbane Magistrates Courts opened in November 2004 to provide Queensland with its first custom built Magistrates Court since the 19th century. The new Brisbane Magistrates Courts includes 25 hearing rooms (21 Magistrates Courtrooms and four Small Claims Courtrooms), day detention facilities, prisoner transfer, plant and car parking. The project has been fitted out with the latest in high technology communications and digital recording for the courtrooms. More

Green Square - South Tower

Located on the corner of St Paul’s Terrace and Constance Street in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley, the Green Square South Tower is the first building in Queensland to be awarded the prestigious five star Green rating for environmentally friendly office design. The building includes 17,000m² of office space over four levels, 360m² of retail space in the plaza area and two levels of basement parking. More




NAB Headquarters

Located on the prestigious Victoria Harbour Precinct at Melbourne Docklands, this project is a state of the art commercial headquarters for the National Australia Bank and Global Wealth Management. The development consists of four separate but similar seven storey buildings over a common podium and car parking levels. Various elevated connecting links are provided between the buildings for circulation. More

Peterborough Hospital

Located in Peterborough in the United Kingdom this £ 700 million redevelopment of existing healthcare facilities on two sites will provide a new Acute Hospital & new Mental Health Unit to the local population. The new Acute Hospital and Mental Health Unit have been designed to allow the existing hospital to remain fully operational during the construction and commissioning of the new facilities and allow a seamless transition of healthcare. Riparian Plaza

This prestigious 53 storey tower designed by acclaimed architect Harry Seidler consists of retail, commercial and residential apartments and occupies the last prime CBD Brisbane river side site. Victoria Point

Victoria Point is a 42 storey residential and commercial development on the south-west corner of Melbourne Docklands Stadium on the Southern ROSP precinct. This project comprises a four level podium transfer structure incorporating car parks, retail and landscaped podium areas abutting the stadium concourse. More

Ephraim Island Development

The Ephraim Island Development is a AUD $250 million exclusive residential project which will include a total of 336 apartments, 15 detached homes and 21 semi-detached homes located on an island in the Gold Coast Broadwater. The design and analysis allows for earthquake resistance of the structures in loose, water-charged sands. The two to eight storey apartment buildings and basement car parks were also located to minimise the hydrostatic basement loads. More



Saville

Saville hotel and apartments is a 14 storey building on the corner of Grey and Glenelg streets at Brisbane's Southbank. The hotel features a restaurant with alfresco dining, a gymnasium and a lap pool. There are 161 apartments comprising of studio, one and two bedroom configurations. More




Altair

Winner of the International Housing & Residential Building & Building of the year for Australasia, Oceania and the Pacific Rim at the World Architects Awards 2002. Altair is a 22 storey residential building has been constructed over an existing tunnel incorporating large spans. Robert Bird Group engineered construction solutions and structural schemes to ensure construction to take place over the fully operational tunnel with no interruption to the train service. More

MacArthur Central

A major retail development in Brisbane's CBD, MacArthur Central is a 20 storey Grade ‘A’ commercial office tower overhead. The retail component of the development incorporates three levels of shopping and a food court. There are three levels of basement car parking and a basement service level. More




White City

London's White City is situated on an entire acre site next to Shepherd’s Bush in West London and in its completion will become the largest shopping centre in Europe. In order to provide the ultimate shopping experience it will host 160,000m² of retail outlets, 13,000 m² of leisure facilities and parking for 4,500 cars. More

Sporting


Brisbane Cricket Ground Redevelopment

The "Gabba" is the home of Queensland Cricket and the AFL Brisbane Lions. During the redevelopment a new grandstand was installed to provide seating and corporate suites for approximately 40,000 people and also included three indoor practice wickets, change rooms, restaurants, bars and function rooms overlooking the field. The value engineering by Robert Bird Group reduced the overall steel quantity by 400 tonnes from the originally tendered design. More



Coventry Arena

Since its opening in 2005, Coventry Arena has been a huge success with more than one million visitors. This £53.8 million development features 32,000 seats, an 8,500m² Exhibition Hall, a Basement Casino, accommodation and community learning facilities. More

Brisbane Airport Multi-Storey Car Park

Stage 1 of the multi-storey car park for the Brisbane Airports Corporation was won under a design and construct competition. The solution developed by the Barclay Mowlem team challenged the clients brief and resulted in the early delivery of the car park with 50% parking space to the original extension than planned for. The Melbourne Dockland's redevelopment is considered one of the largest undertaken in Australia and Robert Bird Group has been there from the beginning.
