The Transmission Gully Motorway project is a $1.25Bn new four-lane motorway north of Wellington being delivered as a private-public partnership by the Gateway Partnership. CPB-HEB Joint Venture are the Design & Construct contractors responsible for delivering the motorway.

The project involves the construction of a 27km four-lane motorway from MacKays to Linden (through Transmission Gully), Wellington, New Zealand. It includes a number of major interchanges and multiple bridges through rugged terrain.

Robert Bird Group has provided structural and civil engineering services to the design and construct contractor, CPB-HEB Joint Venture, for construction engineering and temporary works design for the construction of bridges including: construction vehicle access assessment, Cannon’s Creek catchment assessment, bridge pier construction method and staging, bridge girder stability analysis, edge protection and access designs, craneage methodology and visualisations, formwork design, and concrete thermal analysis and specification for the large concrete pours. Detailed staging and modelling of higher risk works such as the Bridge 20 construction over Cannon’s Creek de-risked activities for constructors.
