Polaris Data Centre

When commissioned in 2008, Polaris Data Centre set the benchmark as the most advanced facility of its type in the country. The data centre was designed as a primary and secondary facility and acts as a disaster recovery site, internet data centre and carrier interconnect exchange.

Polaris Data Centre has been purpose-built on a greenfield site to host mission-critical ICT systems for Government departments and corporate enterprises. The project facility was fitted out to 800 watts per square metre of rack power across the raised floor area and is Queensland’s only Tier 3+ co-location facility.

Robert Bird Group provided structural engineering solutions for the project, from concept to completion. The structure features high load capacity concrete floors to support IT infrastructure, plant and equipment, a superior level of earthquake load resistance for post-disaster functionality, and a long-span steel roof providing ease of access for replacement of plant and equipment located on the top floor.
