Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging (EDIB)

At Robert Bird Group, we strive to foster an inclusive culture that values and respects the diversity of our employees. We believe that a diverse workforce enhances creativity and innovation, and ultimately leads to better business outcomes. We have implemented various initiatives to ensure an inclusive culture that celebrates and values our employees’ unique backgrounds and perspectives. Our cultural learning programs and awareness campaigns promote cultural understanding, empathy, and respect among our team members.

Diversity & Inclusion Initiatives

We go beyond just creating policies by establishing an EDIB Committee that provides a platform for individuals from different backgrounds to connect, share experiences, and contribute to shaping an inclusive work environment. The EDIB Committee plays a crucial role in fostering a sense of belonging, where you can bring your whole self to work, collaborate with colleagues, and make a meaningful impact.

Recruitment & Hiring Practices

When it comes to recruitment and hiring, we actively seek talent from diverse backgrounds, valuing the wealth of perspectives it brings to our organisation. We are committed to mitigating biases in our recruitment process, ensuring fair and equal opportunities for all candidates. We conduct annual pay equity assessments, encourage flexible work practices, and nurture an atmosphere of respect and integrity across all our offices with a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination and bullying.

Employee Support Programs

Our employee support programs are designed to address the specific needs and challenges faced by individuals from different backgrounds. We provide opportunities and resources for career advancement and prioritise creating an environment where every employee feels supported and empowered to succeed.

Celebrating Diversity

Through a vibrant calendar of events and activities, we raise awareness and advocate for diversity and inclusion, celebrating LGBTQIA+ communities, cultural diversity, women’s contributions, mental health, Indigenous literacy, and reconciliation efforts. These celebrations allow us to come together as a team, learn from one another, and build strong connections.

Reconciliation

We acknowledge the lands on which we operate across Australia and are committed to reconciliation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Through our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), we aim to build meaningful relationships, support community initiatives, and create opportunities in employment and education. By fostering cultural understanding within our team, we strive to integrate First Nations perspectives into our practices and contribute positively to the communities we serve.
