Robert Bird Group celebrates nominations at the Women in Construction and Engineering Awards 2025

Robert Bird Group attended this year’s Women in Construction and Engineering Awards 2025 to celebrate our emerging female engineers.

The Women in Construction and Engineering Awards celebrate the role models and organisations empowering women in the engineering and construction sector. Robert Bird Group’s Rebecca Calderon and Zoe Alexaki were both shortlisted for the Rising Star – Technical Excellence award at the Women in Construction and Engineering Awards 2025, recognising their outstanding technical skills and contributions to engineering.

Rebecca Calderon is a geotechnical engineer whose outstanding technical skills, collaborative approach and innovative mindset have made a tangible impact on major infrastructure and commercial projects in both New Zealand and the UK. Her contributions have laid the groundwork for a more agile, integrated approach to foundation design, greatly improving collaboration between geotechnical, structural and computational teams.

Zoe Alexaki’s technical expertise shines through in every stage of project delivery, from pricing and scoping through to site investigations and engineering design. With a natural flair for problem-solving and effective collaboration, underpinned by deep technical expertise, Zoe has played a key role in bolstering our reputation in the rail sector.

Although they missed out on the prize this year, just being shortlisted in this category was recognition of the impactful work, technical expertise, and contributions of Zoe and Rebecca in construction and engineering.
