Robert Bird Group Celebrates Groundbreaking of Final Stage of Liverpool Civic Place 

RBG is proud to announce the commencement of the final stage of Liverpool Civic Place, a landmark development set to transform the southern end of Liverpool CBD. 

 

A City-Shaping Vision 

Delivered in partnership with Built Development Group and the University of Wollongong, this phase introduces: 

  • 11 storeys of university floor space, to be occupied by the University of Wollongong. 
  • 5 storeys of life-sciences enabled and flexible workspace fostering innovation and collaboration. 
  • Liverpool’s first 9-storey co-living building. 
  • A 3-storey basement to better meet parking and servicing needs. 

Ground floor retail activating Scott Street and the internal laneway. 

  • Architectural design by fjcstudio. 
  • 6 Star Green Star rating, continuing the sustainability legacy of Stage 1. 

 

RBG’s Engineering Leadership 

As the lead structural engineer, RBG is responsible for: 

  • Full structural design, including shoring and substructure 
  • A top-down steel structure at one excavation boundary to reduce impact and waste 
  • Partial implementation of this method in the main structure 
  • Construction engineering support throughout the build 
  • Advanced BIM coordination for seamless digital collaboration
