85 Gracechurch Street continues to gain industry recognition, most recently being honoured at the 2026 Planning Awards. The project was awarded Best Use of Arts, Culture or Sport in Placemaking, and also highly commended for Best Use of Heritage in Placemaking, reflecting its unique integration of public experience and historic significance.
These accolades follow its success at the 2026 MIPIM awards, where the development was named Best New Development – further reinforcing its status as a landmark scheme in the City of London.
Located alongside the historic Leadenhall Market and above the remains of Roman London’s first Basilica, 85 Gracechurch Street is a project that brings together the past and the future in a highly distinctive way. Archaeological discoveries on the site, including substantial remains of the Roman Forum Basilica, have shaped the development’s design and created an opportunity to share this history with the public.
Designed by Woods Bagot for Hertshten Group, the scheme will deliver a 32-storey workplace in the heart of the City, alongside new public spaces and an exhibition that will showcase the remarkable archaeological remains below.
Robert Bird Group is providing structural, civil and geotechnical engineering services for this transformative development. The project reflects our commitment to delivering complex urban schemes that balance technical excellence with placemaking, heritage preservation and public engagement.
As construction progresses, 85 Gracechurch Street is set to become a significant new destination – one that not only contributes to London’s commercial future, but also reveals and celebrates its rich history.
