Robert Bird Group, in collaboration with Fast + Epp, appointed as civil and structural engineer for design of National Aquatic Centre

Robert Bird Group, a Brisbane-born firm, in collaboration with Fast + Epp, is proud to be part of the design team appointed for the National Aquatic Centre, a key venue for Brisbane 2032 and the future Australian HQ of aquatic sports.

Located in Brisbane, the National Aquatic Centre will become a premier destination for international aquatic competitions, major events and community use — a defining piece of generational infrastructure.

Robert Bird Group and Fast + Epp will work as part of the AAN design consortium, comprising ARM Architecture, Arkhefield and NH Architecture, collaborating closely with the broader team to support the design and delivery of the venue. As a Brisbane-born practice, Robert Bird Group is especially proud to contribute to a project that will form part of the city’s 2032 legacy, while Fast + Epp brings international experience in delivering award-winning timber and aquatic structures.

Robert Bird Group will draw on its experience across complex infrastructure, major sporting venues and large-span roof structures. Founded in Brisbane and now part of a global team of more than 850 people, Robert Bird Group combines deep local roots with international experience across major civic, sporting and infrastructure projects. In Brisbane, the team has contributed to city-shaping precincts including Queen’s Wharf Brisbane and Cross River Rail.
