Terry Dobbins

Upon graduation in 1989, Terry worked for a Civil Engineering Contractor working on a wide range of projects including an International Container Port, an Immersed Tube Tunnel, Contaminated Land Reclamation and Highways projects involving the construction of numerous highway structures and bridges.

From 1995 to 2015 Terry worked for a top-tier engineering consultancy, progressing rapidly to Director.

Terry joined the main board in 2007 and led a 500-person multidisciplinary UK Buildings Group.

In 2015, Terry joined Robert Bird Group, initially heading up the UK Buildings group and more recently, leading the operations in Europe and the Middle East. He is an experienced leader in strategic development, and the overseeing of operational performance on domestic and international projects. Known for his multidisciplinary skills in engineering, Terry’s contracting experience has contributed extensively to his success in engineering solutions for a wide range of projects. In particular, he uses his knowledge to ensure that the risks and problems faced by contractors are addressed early in design. He continues to work directly with clients on projects across all sectors.

Terry is highly motivated, passionate and conscientious. He has a strong personality and is comfortable taking the lead and making decisions. Terry sets high standards and has a firm leadership style. He has progressed in his career through hard work and leading by example. He is skilled at effective negotiation and dispute resolution. Terry is committed to the development of people at Robert Bird Group and acts as a mentor to staff at numerous levels within the company.
