Gavin joined Robert Bird Group (RBG) in 2021, as the Bridges Team Leader, to boost the company’s existing capabilities in bridge engineering. His primary focus lies in developing and executing the strategic bridges strategy, crafting measures to align with overarching business objectives set by both himself and the RBG leadership team.

Gavin’s strategic vision is for RBG to emerge as a prominent name in UK bridge consulting, a goal he passionately champions. Gavin meticulously orchestrates pursuits projects, commercial endeavors, and marketing initiatives, ensuring a holistic approach toward success.

Gavin’s career is marked by expertise in project and design package delivery, underscored by proficient team leadership and a strong judgment for commercial management. With a foundation in highways structures, he has honed his skills in coordinating multifaceted design packages and overseeing project management across a spectrum of large-scale infrastructure schemes. Gavin’s approach to project management is defined by a problem-solving ethos, coupled with an entrepreneurial and strategic mindset. Furthermore, his leadership extends to championing Health and Safety initiatives and embracing the transformative potential of digital innovations.

Gavin sits on the editorial board of the ICE’s Bridge Engineering journal, supporting his interest in keeping abreast of industry developments. His commitment to mentorship and professional development is seen in his role as a Line Manager and Supervising Civil Engineer (SCE) for the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), where he has provided invaluable support. Additionally, Gavin serves as a Reviewer for the ICE, further solidifying his dedication to fostering excellence within the industry.
