With over a decade of structural design experience, James has played a key role in delivering building projects collectively worth billions of dollars across Melbourne and beyond. He joined Robert Bird Group (RBG) in 2015 and currently leads a team within the Melbourne office’s Buildings sector.

James’ background encompasses the structural design of low-, medium-, and high-rise residential, commercial office, aged-care, retail, and educational developments. Leveraging his expertise in forensic engineering, he also undertakes dilapidation assessments, conducts detailed structural appraisals, and provides risk mitigation advice, including preparation of rectification strategies for structures with identified defects.

His project experience spans large-scale mixed-use precincts such as Melbourne Quarter and Melbourne Square, as well as complex adaptive re-use projects requiring detailed analysis and structural strengthening where required, including McKillop House and the Chadstone Carpark C extension. James has also contributed to major retail developments, notably Westfield Knox, North Blackburn Shopping Centre, and the Fresh Food Projects at Chadstone Shopping Centre.
