Paola is the Geotechnical Discipline Leader at Robert Bird and Partners Ltd in London, focused on managing and delivering the specialist discipline input to major multidisciplinary infrastructure and building projects. She started her career lecturing and researching at universities in Italy and the UK, before joining the industry in 2008 to work for specialist geotechnical consultancies in the UK and Australia.

Paola has gained extensive technical and managerial experience working on residential and commercial projects, as well as major infrastructure projects in the UK, Middle East and Australia. Including High Speed 2, Crossrail, Battersea Power Station iconic redevelopment, Future Olympia, 1 Leadenhall, Audley Square, Bankside West, Elizabeth House, St John’s Wood, Lots Road, Stratford Waterfront, Here East and Park Crescent West in London. The Amaala development in Saudi Arabia, el Sheba Development, Midfield Terminal, Zayed National Museum, Expo 2020 Sustainability Pavilion and Bee’ah Headquarter in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Cross Brisbane River Rail, Sydney International Convention, Exhibition and Entertainment Precinct, Pacific Highway Upgrade, North West Rail Link, Northern Sydney Freight Corridor, and Sydney Light Rail Inner West Extension in Australia. Other international projects include NEO Pafilia in Cyprus, Harvard Allston Life Science in the United States, and Meghban Residential in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

She has considerable experience of using numerical modelling to solve complex geotechnical challenges, to deliver integrated design solutions and provide an interface between clients and third-party representatives including Network Rail, London Underground, Thames Water, Crossrail and UKPN. Paola has been authoring several publications in International Journals and Conference Proceedings.
