Richard initially joined Robert Bird Group (RBG) in 1988 as a Graduate Engineer, gaining experience in industrial warehouses, medium-rise commercial, and residential projects. Over his extensive career, he has worked across various sectors, including commercial, residential, industrial, infrastructure, and manufacturing. In 2013, Richard became a Principal in the RBG Brisbane office.

During his tenure in Brisbane, Richard managed the design delivery for the Abu Dhabi Plaza Project in Astana, Kazakhstan, overseeing the construction of a 75-storey mixed-use tower covering a 40,000m2 site. He later contributed to significant projects in the RBG London and Dubai offices, including a 54-storey office tower in Dubai’s Business District and a high-density residential development in Elephant Park, London.

Richard has since been involved in delivering projects such as Wynyard Place in Sydney, 405 Bourke St in Melbourne, and the new TAE turbine Engine maintenance facility near Brisbane. Most recently, he has been working within the $5.4 billion AUD Brisbane Cross River Rail project design team as lead for the temporary shoring works for all four stations and for the Roma Street Station permanent works.
