Following his graduation in 1996, Stephen gained extensive experience across various sectors including infrastructure, mining, aviation, transportation, and remediation while working for several top-tier engineering consultancies. It was during this period that Stephen recognised an opportunity to revolutionise the engineering and construction industry by introducing a capability focused on providing clients with digital simulations of their projects from inception to completion.
In pursuit of this vision, Stephen pursued a master’s degree in 2006, specialising in advancing this digital simulation capability. In 2008, he joined Robert Bird Group (RBG) with the goal of enhancing the company’s Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) capability. Leveraging his industry experience, Stephen collaborated with other RBG business units to evolve the VDC capability to its current state. He has since successfully applied VDC methodologies to numerous landmark projects, including the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium (AAMI Park), Adelaide Oval Redevelopment, Australia 108, Rod Laver and Margaret Court Arenas in Melbourne, the Snowy 2.0 Hydro-Electric Scheme, Hong Kong Passenger Clearance Building, Abu Dhabi Midfield Terminal and Battersea Power Station Redevelopment in London.
