275 George Street is a commercial tower built on the site previously known as the Brisbane Administration Centre. When first developed in the early 1970’s, provision was made for construction of a future tower, with columns and core walls built from foundations to street level. To enable fast tracking of construction for the new building, the existing columns, walls and foundations were inspected and tested to confirm their capacity to support the new tower.

Extensive works and re-planning within the existing 399 Bourke retail zone were required with the design team to ensure the structural integrity of the existing structure was maintained and the client’s expectations realised.

Project Features

  • Re-use of existing foundation, core walls and columns.
  • Designed to maintain access paths and loading docks for adjacent Brisbane City Hall.
  • Floor plates of approximately 1,200m2, with central core and perimeter columns.
  • Demolition of existing structure at ground and basement levels, and construction of new structure tied to the existing.
