RBG was engaged by Laing O’Rourke to act as the Design and Build (D&B) Lead Consultant on the Aloft Hotel Project. The 14-storey 304 key hotel building was completed within a fast-tracked 26-month D&B construction programme from Concept to Completion. Challenges included two existing live operational structures (Car Park and City Centre Deira Mall) which required new interfaces linking the buildings. The site was heavily constrained by access.
Key technical challenges
The project utilised precast structural elements and architectural elements (bathroom pods) to ensure multiple critical path workfronts were completed simultaneously within the fast-track programme of 26 months.
Robert Bird Group was responsible for the management and delivery of all design disciplines on the project (Architecture, MEP, and Structures as well as their respective associated authority submissions and approvals) over the 26 month timeframe.
