• Simon King Director

Simon joined Robert Bird Group in 2013 and holds Director and Residential Lead positions. He enjoys identifying risks and opportunities on residential and mixed-used schemes for clients, design teams and contractors. Simon encompasses a ‘Design for Delivery’ approach to engineering, where value is identified and unlocked early in the design cycle, thereby enabling greater opportunities for all project stakeholders.

With over 20 years experience in the construction sector, Simon brings fresh perspective to problem solving by balancing analytical rigour with pragmatic simplification, and exploring, assessing and resolving design and construction optionality with a view to meeting cost, programme and quality requirements. Simon enjoys developing close-working relationships that ensure optimum, value-gained results and stakeholder expectations are met.

Simon’s latest residential projects include: St John’s Wood Square, a large residential scheme requiring innovative technical considerations to addressing complex basement movements; Elephant & Castle Regeneration, multi-phased delivery of Lendlease’s five subplots and energy centre involving an evolution of construction forms, materials, procurement routes and design/construct processes; Audley Square House, proposal of alternative construction methodologies to better address stringent ground movement criteria; Albert Docks Phase 2, the second phase of East London’s vibrant hub for ABP; Longley Place with L&G, in Brighton; Kingsgate Road, in Kingston, with Apache Capital and Investra.
