RBG London Launches 16-18 Work Experience Program

This summer the RBG London Office hosted 11 work experience students from local schools. Earlier this month, a group of budding engineers from a local Comprehensive School joined our office for two weeks to find out what it takes to deliver the world-class engineering projects here at RBG.

Tailored specifically towards Secondary School age students; RBG have developed a structured work experience program designed to give students a holistic taste of an engineering project providing the students with an insight to BIM, Civil, Structural & Geotechnical Engineering and even given the opportunity to do some 3D printing.

The program is based on a live RBG project, this year it has been based on the Battersea Redevelopment Scheme [insert hyperlink to project page?]. It has been structured to give the students an understanding of what’s required to deliver a construction project and explains the planning, concept and detailed design stages of a project, concluding with construction and delivery.

Significant milestone for the BSCU project

Robert Bird Group are pleased to see the successful installation of the temporary support truss which marks a significant milestone for the Bank Station Capacity Upgrade Project. The truss which supports 4 levels of basement slab within the 18.5m deep piled basement structure, enables construction of a new 8 level deep Bank Station entrance. This innovative approach eliminates the detrimental programme and H&S impacts of the plunge column alternative within the low level 20m deep SCL shaft. The shaft houses the lift and stairs, and is adjacent to an inclined escalator barrel, both of which are subsequently constructed from the base of the piled box.
