Chris Papanastasiou Director
Chris has 15 years of Engineering Design, Construction and Project Leadership experience in a breadth multidisciplinary engineering projects both in the UK and abroad, in commercial, residential, sports, rail and aviation sectors. Chris joined Robert Bird Group in 2016 as an Associate and now leads a team within our UK Building Structures Division and chairs our UK Commercial Office Sector.
Most recently at Robert Bird Group, Chris has led the delivery of our 21 Moorfields project, a complex over station development, overcoming multiple onsite and below ground constraints to deliver 60,000 sqm of Grade A commercial office space of the live Moorgate station. He is also currently working on our Brisbane Cross River Rail project, working directly with our Australia offices to deliver complex below and above ground rail infrastructure, whilst delivering other smaller projects within the business.
Throughout his career, Chris has a proven track record of timely and profitable project delivery of award-winning projects of varying sizes and complexity. He has experience of new build projects, plus a range of small to large scale redevelopments of existing structures. In his previous company, amongst other projects, he led a multidisciplinary team to deliver the tender design of the Luton Airport Expansion Project, doubling passenger capacity for the London Airport through provision of new structures, cut and carve of the existing terminals, a pedestrian link bridge, and major highways reconfiguration. Chris had led multiple projects from feasibility to completion, with an emphasis on buildability, successful delivery, and commercial performance. This has allowed him to gain a sound understanding of Client requirements, technical and practical challenges.
Chris has excellent communication skills and focuses on understanding Client and Design Team requirements. From hand sketches at concept stage, through contract appointment, to site delivery, his style encourages teamwork, intercompany collaboration, and seeks to develop close working relationships with Clients, Architects, Consultants and Contractors.
