• Damian McBride Principal

Damian is a Principal in RBG’s Auckland office, leading a fast-growing team of young Structural Engineers and developing our presence in a dynamic new marketplace.  His background is generally in permanent works Structural Engineering and he has many years of experience in a wide variety of projects, particularly industrial buildings but also civil infrastructure, stadia, deep excavations and high-rise buildings.  He is well versed in Seismic Engineering and has vast experience in seismic upgrading of existing buildings.

Damian joined our London office in 2010, taking over leadership of the Construction Engineering division there in 2013 and growing the team extensively.  In filling this role he championed RBG’s USP of holistic design leadership, delivering numerous unique solutions that efficiently integrate construction methodology with temporary and permanent works design.  Recognition of his strength in this area came with The Structural Engineer publishing his paper on the topic.

Since returning to New Zealand in late 2017, Damian has continued practising in the specialised field of Construction Engineering along with returning to more traditional permanent works design leadership.  Of note, he has recently led RBG’s involvement in the City Rail Link (underground railway),

Central Interceptor (4.5m sewer tunnel) and Waikeria Prison projects.  Other career highlights include:

    • Canada Water Underground Station
    • Auckland Town Hall Restoration
