270 Park Avenue is the new state of-the-art global headquarters for JPMorgan Chase in New York City. The 1,388-foot (423 meter), 60- story skyscraper will be NYC’s largest all-electric tower with net zero operational emissions and exceptional indoor air quality that exceeds the highest standards in sustainability, health and wellness.

Designed to re-define the modern workplace with 21st century infrastructure, smart technology and 2.5 million square feet of flexible and collaborative space that can easily adapt to the future of work.

Robert Bird Group is engaged by JPM and the general contractor, AECOM Tishman, as the project’s construction engineering and VDC consultant. RBG’s scope included:

  • Creation and on-going maintenance of the project’s VDC model
  • Modelling of all temporary works, logistics and site material and handling
  • Construction engineering review of critical construction strategies
  • Creation of 4D visualisation videos for the client and city approvals
  • Construction logistics planning and site sequencing reviews

Key technical challenges

Project delivery challenges faced by RBG included producing an effective 4D model using a variety of consultant models and construction schedules, 3D modelling of the over 100-year-old underground rail infrastructure using historic drawings and point cloud data, planning and sequencing complex construction logistics and material handling strategies for a congested site in midtown Manhattan, and coordinating the work of multiple contractors on a highly complex structural project.

Added Value

Robert Bird Group provided a world class VDC model for the Project, ensuring that all site activities were coordinated and were communicated using revolutionary VDC visualizations. This enhanced project collaboration, identified risks for the contractor, enabled greater problem solving and contributed to the successful construction of this iconic tower.
