As part of the Gold Coast University Hospital Master Plan, two car parks are planned to be developed in conjunction with the Hospital. The Gold Coast University Hospital Western Car Park was completed in 2012 and is a 7 level multi-storey car park with an initial capacity of approximately 2,230 spaces.

The structure is a banded post tensioned slab acting as a fully framed sway structure with no lateral loads carried by the lift or stair cores. Structural savings were achieved by adopting a permanently rock anchored retaining wall system to eliminate lateral earth pressure on the building.

Under an agreement with Queensland Health, SurePark will build, own, operate and then transfer the facility to the Queensland Government after an agreed period of time. As part of the ‘future proofing’ of the Queensland Government’s plans to ensure growth in line with community needs, provision of a future Eastern Car Park will be prompted by demand and the development of the co-located Private Hospital.
