Key technical challenges

Robert Bird Group provided structural engineering design services to support the Contractor in their application of a Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) strategy on this prestigious project.

Robert Bird Group’s scope included the conversion of the 800m long basement perimeter retaining walls and 30,000m2 of suspended ground floor slab from reinforced concrete designs to precast concrete solutions. This aimed to produce a high quality structure, which could be erected efficiently, whilst minimising health and safety risks on site.
