Merdeka 118

Project Description

At 678.9m high with 118 storeys Merdeka 118 is the second tallest building in the world. The tower sits on a common podium structure containing retail and car parking space over four basement levels. It is predominantly a steel framed building with a reinforced concrete mega structure providing lateral stability.

The mega structure incorporates perimeter mega columns coupled to the central core by structural steel outriggers at three locations. Belt trusses assist the mega frame and provide enhanced robustness to the tower.

Added Value

Robert Bird Group assisted from the bid phase and were selected after tender from a list of international structural consultants. The project comprises a main tower with approximately 80 levels of office space with hotel and apartments above. Robert Bird Group were the structural consultants working equally with Leslie E.
