• Anko Griffioen Principal

Anko is a Principal with over 40 years’ experience in structural engineering design. He has held a wide range of structural design roles on projects including major shopping centres and malls, large warehouses, industrial buildings, motor showrooms, mining structures, bridges and temporary works.  Anko has been involved in the construction engineering aspects of bridges, marine jetties, the Dubai Eye, and the Airportlink and Riverwalk projects in Brisbane.  Further design experience includes heavy-duty concrete slabs for mining and warehousing applications.  Anko developed exposed feature steelwork – displayed for architectural purposes – for over thirty motor showrooms, and glazed skylight feature framing over atriums within shopping centre malls.

Anko also has four years’ experience in managing the detailing, fabrication and erection of steel structures. His involvement in D&C structural steel projects enhance his skills in designing efficient structures.

Anko has significant experience in the aviation sector – he led the construction methodology development for steel roof structures supporting concrete shell elements at Kuwait international Airport (Terminal II). Over 30,000 composite pre-cast concrete shells housed in steel plate grillages are suspended on overhead temporary works girders, during construction.  At the Hong Kong International Airport (Terminal II), Anko developed the demolition methodologies accommodating the airport height restriction limitations.
